Arma II is a first-person war game that takes place on a massive multi-hundred square km map. This allows you to start and run the dedicated server automatically when Windows boots and before login. FireDaemon Pro also allows you to start multiple instances of the game server, monitoring them and automatically restarting those instances in the event they crash. Its primary use is to install and update various dedicated servers available on Steam using a command-line interface. You will need to enter a verification string if your steam account has SteamGuard enabled. The verification string will be sent to the email you set up as your steam account email. This string only needs to be filled in once. If the game successfully downloads, the command window will close on its own. Otherwise, it will stay open and tell you what went wrong most likely you don't have enough free disk space.

By Clark , May 8, in General Discussion. I personally use soyoustart, a canadian version of OVH, or sister company if you want to call it lol. Soyoustart is all of the servers that OVH puts out of commission basically. Cheap and basically another way for them to make money still good though. Or you could go higher in price, and get the really nice 5 Ghz version which would boost performance even more. Plus I get more upload speed which is nice for hosting. I used webtropia for my last servers. Same specs as OVH at the time but cheaper. I also used OVH before and had no issues with them.
No more packing your arma dir and uploading it to your server as you can handle everything from the Linux shell. Please note that the files you are downloading with SteamCMD are not any kind of dedicated server package but just the normal windows game install files. This Steam tutorial only covers how you download the game files with SteamCMD, not how to make them work in your Linux shell. SteamCMD will not download the linux binarys for your dedicated server either. After the download is complete, you can safely delete these following files, here is our current delete command line:. Then download the ArmA 2 linux dedicated server package from bis, unpack it to your server directory. Here are some config files. These config files are not really an good examples of how you should set your server up, they aren't meant for that, they are here just to complete this tutorial so you can copy paste and change few parts and get your server up and running with as little fuss as possible. You definitely should go through and learn how to make proper server configuration files for your own unique server. This following is the basic server config file, we call it pmc.
